Amelia Rose Wages of Clarksville, infant daughter of Rodney and Jennifer
Wages, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002.
Other survivors are one brother, Ryan Wages of Huntsville; grandparents,
Carle A. Robbins III of Fort Smith, Mary Ellen Robbins of Clarksville,
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Higginbotham of Seligman, Mo., and Jerry Wages of St.
Paul.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Woodland Cemetery with Rev. William Wewers, O.S.B., officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Frances Geraldine Mason, 57, of Ozark, mother of Pamela Archuleta of
Lamar, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was Pentecostal and a daughter of the late Floyd and Opal Dickerson
Bowman.
Other survivors are five sons, Dennis Hagler of Bossier City, La., James
Bowman, Eugene Hagler and Randy Mason, all of Ozark, and Keith Tucker of
Paris; three sisters, Dorothy Carpenter and Velma Bennett, both of Vidor,
Texas, and Estelle Stacy of Springdale; seven brothers, Buck Bowman and
Harold Bowman of Vidor, Texas, Dennis Bowman of Orange, Texas, Doyle Bowman,
Bobby Bowman, and Lonnie Bowman, all of Ozark, and Buster Bowman of Crane,
Texas; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20,
at Hickory Grove Cemetery at Ozark with Rev. Joey Lamar officiating. Arrangements
are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Randall Bowman, D. J. Bowman, Danny Kesler,
Frank Roland, David Freeman, and Chuck Munger.
Honorary pallbearers will be Justus Bowman, Larry Archuleta, Zac Archuleta,
David Ray Bowman, and L. J. Bowman.

John F. Perry, 70, son of Ethel Northrup of Clarksville, died Sunday,
Nov. 10, 2002, in Louisville, Ky. He was a native of Monmouth, Ill.
Other survivors include his widow, Barbara Perry; one daughter, Brenda
Mudd of Louisville, Ky.; two stepchildren; five grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Ratterman Funeral Home Chapel in
Louisville, Ky., with Rev. Tom Dillard officiating. Burial was in Resthaven
Memorial Park.

S. J. Stonie Crouch, 95, of Ozark, father of Ed Crouch of Hagarville,
died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, in Ozark.
He was a son of the late Joseph and Fannie Green Crouch, native of Franklin
County, farmer, and member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include four daugh-
ters, Eulalia Auslam of Fayetteville, Juanita Armstrong and Naomi Kuykendall,
both of Ozark, and Nina Wilson of Lavaca; four other sons, Joe, John, Jack
and Roger Crouch, all of Ozark; 24 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel
in Ozark with Rev. Johnnie Bennett and Rev. Dade Kindrix officiating. Burial
was at Mount View Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were David Kuykendall, Danny Crouch, Steve Crouch,
Terry Crouch, Kevin Crouch, and Eugene Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers were Omer Larimore and Jack Kilgore.
Virgil Griffin Bohannon Sr., 73, of Longview, Texas, died Sunday, Nov.
10, 2002.
He was born in Clarksville to William P. and Irma Griffin Bohannon and
was employed in construction as a general superintendent. He was preceded
in death by one son, Alan Bohannon.
Survivors include his widow, Jimmie Nell Bohannon; two sons, Virgil
G. Bohannon Jr. of Longview, Texas, and Steven H. Bohannon of Dallas, Texas;
one sister, Inez Jumper of Fairdale, Texas; three grandsons, Virgil Bohannon
III, Christopher Bohannon and Nathaniel Bohannon, all of Wylie, Texas;
and one great-granddaughter, Jasmine Marie Bohannon of Wylie, Texas.
Services will be held in Clarksville at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of East Texas Funeral Home of Longview, Texas.
John Edward (Johnny) Bock, 80, longtime educator and lifelong resident
of Clarksville died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at the University of Arkansas
Medical Sciences in Little Rock. He was born Jan. 27, 1922, to John and
Bozena Golasowsky Bock, who came to Johnson County in 1914 from Czechoslovakia.
Following the death of his father in 1934, he assisted in the family
owned and operated business, Bock's Cafe in Clarksville.
He graduated from Clarksville High School, where he lettered in football,
baseball and track. After attending The College of the Ozarks (now University
of the Ozarks) during the 1941-42 school year, he transferred to Arkansas
Tech in Russellville where he attended for one semester on a football scholarship.
Bock's collegiate work was interrupted by military service with the
U. S. Army in World War II when he served from August 1942 until August
1945. Upon entering the service, he was stationed at Camp Robinson and
later transferred to Tyler, Texas. He saw overseas duty in Italy with the
91st Infantry Headquarters Unit.
Returning to the University of the Ozarks in 1947, he had a career in
baseball. A three-year letterman, he was named All-AIC in 1948 and 1949.
In 1949, his .425 batting average led the Mountaineers to the AIC Championship,
where he was named AIC batting champion.
Graduating from Ozarks in 1949, he spent two years in Nashville, Tenn.,
where he earned a master's degree in educational administration from George
Peabody College. During this time, he spent two summers playing semi-pro
baseball in Louisiana.
His 35-year career as an educator began as an instructor and principal
at Michie Elementary School followed by principal and later superintendent
at Clarksville High School. In 1978 he was named Supervisor of Special
Education for an eight-district region which he served until his retirement
in 1985.
While at George Peabody, he won the University Individual Golf Championship.
He also won the individual club golf championship at the Clarksville Country
Club on three occasions as well as individual senior golf titles four times.
He was a member of the Arkansas Education Association, the National
Education Association, and the Arkansas Association for Educational Administrators.
He was active in the Western Arkansas Schoolmasters group, earned a special
degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he was inducted
into the University's chapter of Phi Delta Kappa. He also did additional
graduate work at the University of Central Arkansas at Conway.
Bock was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarksville
where he served in various leadership roles. He also served in leadership
positions with the Area Agency on Aging for Central Arkansas as well as
the Governor's Commission, where he chaired the committee. He chaired the
committee for the selection of inductees into the Arkansas Senior Hall
of Fame.
A member of the Clarksville Rotary Club for many years, he was named
a Paul Harris Fellow, the highest honor bestowed by Rotary International.
He was a long-time member of Clarksville Supper Club.
In 1991, he was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at the University
of the Ozarks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyzelle Blackburn Bock; three
brothers, Joe, Earnest and Raymond Bock of Clarksville; and one sister,
Sophia Bock Boles and husband, Neil J. Boles, of Fort Smith.
Survivors include three nephews and spouses, Billy H. and Joe Ann Bock
of Pine Bluff, Larry and Louise Bock of Sumter, S. C., and Greg and Cathy
Blackburn of Boston, Mass.; three nieces and spouses, Karen Kay (Bock)
and Keith Jaggers of Ozark, Lee Ann (Bock) and Russ Amerson of Fairbanks,
Alaska, and Linda Bock Spurlock of Clarksville; three sisters-in-law, Laura
Belle Bock of Ozark, and Freda Lee Bock and Patsy Blackburn, both of Clarksville;
and four great-nieces and great-nephews, Kellie Bock Cohen and husband,
Jeff, of Fort Smith, Kim Bock Buck of Texarkana, Texas, Kraig Bock of Austin,
Texas, and Kirk Earnest John Bock and wife, Lillian, of Harrison.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at the First Presbyterian
Church in Clarksville with Rev. Lance Jones, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke
Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Billy Bock, Jeff Cohen, Kirk Bock, John Hilton,
George Reece, Morris Pearson, John West, R. C. Plugge, and Ken Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stewart Willey, Robert Basham, Ottis Pyron
and Ed Harris.
