Ashlynn Nicole Woods, 15-day-old daughter of Billy and Stephanie Carney
Woods of Russellville, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at her home.
Other survivors include two sisters, Mariah Woods of Russellville and
Summer Woods of Fort Smith; grandparents, Beverly and Wayne Cornwell of
Knoxville, Dean and Mary Woods of Russellville, and James and Ginger Carney
of Deer; great-grandparents, Rose and Curtis Keaton of Mulberry, Bill and
Edna Woods of Clarksville, Alpha Stone of Hagarville, Doyle Carney of Deer
and Diana Powers of Roland, Okla.; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the Gateway Pentecostal Church
of God in Russellville with Rev. Jerry Vinson, Rev. Mark Keith and Rev.
Curtis Keaton officiating.
Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville under the direction
of Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle.
Active pallbearer was Wayne Cornwell.
Honorary pallbearers were Jamie Carney, Michael Carney, Brian Woods, Gabriel Woods, Cody Nance and Justin Keith.
Daren M. Johnson, 77, of Ozark died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at his home.
A native of Mt. Levi, he was a son of the late Charles Jefferson and
Annie Elizabeth Graves Johnson, graduate of Clarksville High School, brick
layer and heavy equipment operator, member of the Ozark Church of Christ,
and Navy Seabees veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his widow, Lou Ella Johnson; two daughters and one
son-in-law, Maria and Bill Bolin of Russellville and Linda Bethel of Fort
Meyers, Fla.; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Judy Johnson of Ozark;
one sister, Mae Harris of Clarksville; two brothers, Norman Johnson of
Broken Arrow, Okla., and Charles Johnson Jr. of Lawton, Okla.; 11 grandchildren;
and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at the Clarksville Church
of Christ with John Brasseaux officiating.
Burial was in Hagarville Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral
Home.
Pallbearers were Jerry Hawkins, Jim Cooley, Frank Woolsey, Clayton Tompkins Jr., Jimmy Little, and Bill Bice.
Hugh Pat Moore Sr., 58, of Clarksville died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002,
at Arkansas Heart Hospital.
He was an auto technician, Army veteran, and son of the late Everette
L. and Ollie G. Light Moore.
Survivors include his widow, Jo Box Moore; six daughters, Cheryl Nowotny
of Clarksville, Belinda Moore of Hartman, Rebecca L. Moore of North Beach,
Md., Amy J. Moore of Alabama, Rachel L. Hendry of Kansas, and Emily R.
Moore of Harrington, Del.; three sons, Pat Moore Jr. of Laurel, Del., and
Zack A. Moore and Mac McWilliams, both of Clarksville; two brothers-in-law
and sisters-in-law, Charles and Betty Box of Knoxville and Wendell and
Annita Powell of Clarksville; one sister, Jane White of Sylacauga, Ala.;
11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial with full military honors were at 2 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 21, at Hartman Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction
of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Paul Williams, Mike Williams, and Ted Sturges.

Rev. Hulon (Shug) Wiser, 87, of Plainview, brother of Frank Wiser of
Clarksville, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at Chambers Memorial Hospital
in Danville.
He was a native of Havana, son of the late Porter and Ratha Rogers Wiser,
retired heavy equipment operator, an Assembly of God minister, and a member
of the Assembly of God Church in Havana. He was preceded in death by his
first wife, Geneva Pearl Wiser; one brother, Joe Wiser; and one sister,
Mary Wiser.
Survivors include his widow, Nell Green Wiser; two sons and daughters-in-law,
Clyde and Wanda Wiser and William (Bubby) and Brenda Wiser, all of Havana;
nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd (Linda) Robinson Jr. of Lake Jackson,
Texas; stepson and wife, Kenny and Susan McRae of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; four
other brothers, James Wiser of Danville, Bob Wiser of Ada, Okla., Roger
Wiser of Havana, and Henry Wiser of Boron, Calif.; three sisters, Ida Sue
Hall of Belleville, Betty Reed of North Little Rock, and Molly Fish of
Garland, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter;
and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Assembly of God Church
in Havana. Burial was in Havana Cemetery under the direction of Cornwell
Funeral Home of Danville.
Pallbearers were Rick Wiser, Ron Wiser, Michael Wiser, Bill Wiser, Kevin Wiser, Barry Wiser, Heath Robinson, and Brandon Robinson.
Joe Dahlem, 88, of Fort Smith died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, in Fort Smith.
He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus,
American Legion and VFW, and served in the U. S. Army Air Corp.
Survivors include his widow, Wanda Earline Dahlem; four daughters, Debe
Wright and Wanda Manchego, both of Greenwood, Sheila Smith of Fort Smith,
and Winona Britting of Charleston; three sons, Bill Dahlem of Alma, David
Dahlem of Fort Smith, and Rick Dahlem of Lavaca; one sister, Pauline Leding
of Fort Smith; one brother, John Dahlem of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.
Rosary was at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in
Fort Smith. Funeral mass was at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at Christ The
King Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Michael and Thomas Pendleton, Stuart and Don Britting, Jason Patillo, Mike Oliver, and Phil Leding.
Jimmy Jones, 60, of Altus died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, from injuries
sustained in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 64 near Coal Hill.
He was a native of Slayton, Texas, son of the late Elizabeth Leona Loar
Jones, member of the Ozark MOPAR Club, elder and member of the Ozark Congregation
of Jehovah's Witnesses, mechanic with Hagans Dodge and a master Chrysler
technician. He was preceded in death by one son, Keith Jones.
Survivors include his widow, Ruby Jones; one daughter, Rhonda Musgrove
of Grand Junction, Colo.; one son, Kyle Jones of Fayetteville; father,
Benard of Altus; one sister, Elaine Jones of Altus; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark.
Ronnie Jones, 37, of Altus died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, in a Fort
Smith hospital from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident on Highway
64 near Coal Hill.
He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Melvin James and Ruby Caplinger
Jones, member of the Ozark MOPAR Club and Altus Rural Fire Department,
elder and member of the Ozark Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, mechanic
with Hagans Dodge and a master Chrysler technician. He was preceded in
death by one brother, Keith Jones; and grandmother, Leona Jones.
Survivors include his widow, Melissa Jones; one daughter, Shelby Jones
of Altus; one son, Nathan Jones of Altus; mother, Ruby Jones of Altus;
paternal grandparent, Benard Jones of Altus; maternal grandparents, LaVelle
and Juanita Caplinger of Altus; one sister, Rhonda Musgrove of Grand Junction,
Colo.; one brother, Kyle Jones of Fayetteville; and two aunts, Elaine Jones
of Altus and LaNita Johnson of Ozark.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark with John Maestri and Tim Adkins officiating.
Randy Tumbleson, 34, of Lamar died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at M. D. Anderson
Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
He was a native of Baltimore, Md., a machinist with ALCOA Foils, attended
Lamar Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles
and Quency Tumbleson and Les and Pauline Johnston.
Survivors include his widow, Cary Tumbleson; one son, Jake Tumbleson
of Lamar; one daughter, Sara Tumbleson of Lamar; and parents, Fred Tumbleson
of Knoxville and Linda Johnston Tumbleson of Lamar.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Lamar Baptist Church with
Rev. Ed Birdsong officiating.
Burial was in Hagarville Cemetery under the direction of Humphrey Funeral
Service of Russellville.

Raymond (Bill) Woodward, 76, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Oct. 16,
2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Borden Springs, Ala., and son of the late Edmond
and Rhoda Adams Woodward Broomfield.
Survivors include a companion, Ruth Opheim; one half-brother, Bob Broomfield
of Norwalk, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Sally Ladd officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Shirley Ann Waite, 59, of Knoxville died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at
Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
A native of Knoxville, she was a daughter of the late Cleo and Jessie
Burton Hattabaugh, 1960 graduate of Lamar High School, and member of Trinity
Chapel Pentecostal Church of God in Clarksville.
Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Waite; two sisters, Betty Box
of Knoxville and Linda Harrison of London; one brother, Danny Hattabaugh
of Knoxville; five nieces, Melissa Baskin and Shawna Johnson of Clarksville,
Anissa Williams and Chasity Harrison of London, and Nashamanie Fuller of
Van Buren; and six great-nieces.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Trinity Chapel Pentecostal
Church of God with Rev. Terry Schlinker and Rev. Joe Fonville officiating.
Burial was in Knoxville Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral

Bennie Betnar, 61, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at her
home.
She was born at Paron to Harrison and Ethel Hogue Wolf, widow of Clifford
Jim Betnar, graduate of Paron High School and member of North Point Southern
Baptist Church in Paron.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Tony and Judy
Tolar, Martin Tolar, and Michael Tolar, all of Clarksville; two daughters
and one son-in-law, Christina and Marcus Wilkins and Deanne Rudder, all
of Clarksville; one brother, James Price Wolf of Benton; three sisters,
Pauline Lewis of Wichita, Kan., and Elnora Smith and Beulah Moody, both
of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Price Wilkins and Shana Wilkins, both
of Clarksville, Mellisia Tolar of St. Petersburg, Fla., and T. J. Tolar
of Lamar; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at
the Shady Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke
Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 7-8 Thursday, Oct. 24, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
