Allie Esther Nunley Bridges, 92, of Odessa, Texas, formerly of Clarksville,
died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Avalon Place in Odessa, Texas.
She was a daughter of the late W. J. and Willie Carter Nunley, widow
of Erna (Ernie) Bridges, and a member of Temple Baptist Church in Odessa,
Texas.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, April and David Newton
of Odessa, Texas; three grandchildren and spouses, Paul and Mary Ellen
Newton of Texarkana, Texas, and Jill and Lance Johnson and Jana and David
Duckworth, all of Odessa, Texas; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law
and six sisters-in-law, Floyd and Lennie Randall and Olen and Doris Bridges,
all of Oklahoma, and Nettie Jacobs, Lucy Jacobs, Magdalene Dobbs, and Eula
Bridges, all of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Landmark Missionary
Baptist in Clarksville with Rev. Vernon Bass officiating.
Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox
Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Ashlock, Mike Mee, Joe Dan Calvin, James Allen
Bridges, Norman Fortney, and Wendell Lee.
A. Howard Smith, 76, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at
his home.
A native of Sudan, Texas, he was a son of the late Milton and Mattie
Earl Ardis Smith, graduate of Vista High School in Vista, Calif., Air Force
World War II veteran, member of Stillwell Bible Baptist Church and the
VFW, lifetime member of Gideon International, retired construction superintendent,
and was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon.
Survivors include his widow, Virginia Smith; two daughters and one son-in-law,
Cindy and Bruce Herron of Clarksville and Jan Smith of San Diego, Calif.;
one sister, Margie Smith of Valley Center, Calif.; three brothers, Milton
Smith of North Bend, Wash., Ken Morri of Belle Vernon, Pa., and Tom Morri
of Columbus, Ohio; two grandsons and spouses, David and Ralyn Herron of
Auburn, Ala., and Ryan and Holly Herron of Moore, S. C.; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Stillwell Bible Baptist Church
with Rev. Steve Askins officiating.
Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke
Funeral Home.

Billy G. Mott, 69, of Clarksville died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Sparks
Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith.
He was a retired Air Force veteran, member of New Life Church, and son
of the late L. A. and Zella Jones Mott.
Survivors are his widow, Norma J. Mott; one daughter, Trishia Rose Boyd
of Craiksk, Canada; one son, Alan S. Mott of Lamar; one brother, Robert
A. Mott of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral with full military honors will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25,
at Roller-Cox Chapel with Dr. Jack Glaze officiating. Burial will be in
Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the Little Rock Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Dorothy Jinkins, 58, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, in Cheyenne, Neb.
Survivors include her husband, Joe E. Jinkins; one son, Joe C. Jinkins
of Clarksville; two daughters, Theresa Bridges of Arizona and Kathy Edger
of Nebraska; nine grandchildren including Jason and Kenny Jinkins of Clarksville;
two great-grandchildren; and three sisters.
A memorial service was held and the body was cremated.
David Wayne Ree, 50, of Coal Hill died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at his
home.
He was a son of the late Dennis and Pauline Ketton Ree, Mason, member
of Hartman Methodist Church, graduate of Van Buren High School, former
delivery man for Pepsi Cola Company, and was preceded in death by one brother,
Ronald Ree; and one sister, Ruth Ann.
Survivors are his widow, Karen Yates Ree; one daughter, Lacey Ree of
Van Buren; two stepsons, Joshua Freeman and Zachary Cremer, both of the
home; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Roger Cates of Fort Smith;
and two grandchildren, Tyler Ree and Hunter Ree, both of Van Buren.
Memorial graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren with David Qualls officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Gladys Eagle, 72, of Russellville, sister of Emma Vinson of Clarksville,
died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of London, daughter of the late Arthur B. and Pearlie
Rae Darter Bocksnick, widow of Willie Eagle, member of the Wakefield Baptist
Church in Little Rock, and was preceded in death by one son, Larry Archer.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Jim Gruber
of Bedford, Texas; two brothers, Buster Bocksnick of London and Gary Bocksnick
of Ozark; three other sisters, Sylvia Krisell of England and Ruth Lingo
and Patsy Parker, both of London; and four grandchildren, Lisa Archer,
Eric Archer, Jesse Gruber and fiance, Lauri French, and Justin Gruber.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Piney Bible Baptist
Church with Rev. Stephen Maczko officiating.
Burial will be in Brock Cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral
Service of Russellville.
Nephews will serve as active pallbearers.
Genevieve E. Slocum, 93, of Albuquerque, N. M., died Wednesday, Jan.
16, 2002.
She was a native of Beaman, Iowa, former resident of Johnson County,
school teacher, 4-H leader, restaurant owner, executive housekeeper, motel/restaurant
and traveling manager, and widow of Rily A. Slocum.
She is survived by one daughter, Marlys Suiter of Albuquerque, N. M.;
one sister, Betty Liegel of Central City, Iowa; and two grandsons, Douglas
Chester of Dundee, Iowa, and AM1 Rily Suiter, USN, of Jacksonville, Fla.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Manor Care Health Center in Albuquerque, N. M. The body was cremated. Burial will be in Iowa this summer.
Graveside services and burial for Robert Harold English, 81, of White
Hall who died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center
were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Coal Hill Cemetery under the
direction of Cranford Funeral Home of White Hall.

A native of Altus, he was a son of the late Robert Cole and Frankie
Mae Morris English, 1939 graduate of Ozark High School, United States Army
Air Force veteran of World War II, member of White Hall United Methodist
Church, former member of the White Hall Lions Club, former sales employee
and a retired employee of The Drape Shop.
Survivors include his widow, Elizabeth Dickerson English; one brother, Gerald W. English of Altus; two sisters, Juanita Sadler of Ennis, Texas, and Rubye English of Blythe, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John Tait Nelson, 57, of Coal Hill died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Johnson
Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Brooklyn, N. Y., son of the late Alexander and Jessie
Tait Nelson, Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, graduate of Haver Hill
High School in Haverford, Pa., received a degree in accounting from Pierce
Junior College, attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
and was an employee of Kenner Boat Company in Knoxville.
Survivors include his widow, Diane Marvel Nelson; two daughters and
one son-in-law, Debra and Anthony Mulanax of Lamar and Alice Henninger
of Lutherville; two sons, William Nelson and Jesse Nelson, both of the
home; two grandchildren, Chase Morgan of Lutherville and Destiny Ainslie
of Lamar; and several cousins, aunts and uncles of Scotland.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints with Daniel Farrer officiating.
Burial was in Kendall Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral
Home.

Leona Mae Braet, 95, of Lamar died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Countryside
Manor Nursing Home.
She was a retired seamstress, widow of Edward J. Braet, and daughter
of the late Edward Alexander and Edith Boss Mitchell.
She is survived by several nieces including Marian Mitchell of Colona,
Ill., and Edith Duncan of Chandler, Ariz.; and several nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev.
Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Lamar Cemetery.

Clara Lorene Goodin Kenton, 77, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, in Los Banos,
Calif.
She was a native of the Goose Camp Community, attended Cold-
water Elementary School in the Montana Community, widow of Buford B. Kenton,
and former resident of Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Merced, Calif.
She is survived by one son, Buford Ray Kenton of Tracy, Calif.; two
daughters, Sharon Kaye Garcia and Pamela Faye Kenton of Los Banos, Calif.;
four sisters, Imogene Martindale of Wichita, Kan., Dean Cervantes of Morro
Bay, Calif., Wanda Glidewell of Midwest City, Okla., and Sue McLaughlin
of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Burial was at Los Banos Cemetery in Los Banos, Calif.
Lester Dale Mans, 53, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at
his home.
He was retired, a son of the late Curgus Mans and was preceded in death
by one sister, Maxine Taylor.
Survivors are his widow, Linda R. Mans; four daughters and sons-in-law,
Lesia Maxcine and Carlos Guerrero of Baytown, Texas, Penny Elaine and Lonnie
Ball of Williamsburg, Ky., Pamela Jean and Craig Murry of Fayetteville,

Vallie Hardgraves, 80, of Ozark, mother of Lesley Brown of Hunt, died
Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark.
She was a member of Fairview Regular Baptist Church, native of Franklin
County, and daughter of the late Jim and Vada Belt Nichols.
Other survivors include five daughters, Mildred Clift, Reta Mitchell,
Pauline McElroy and Valerie Sturdivant, all of Ozark, and Norma Davis of
Mulberry; three sisters, Ann Jensen of Conway, Louise Blaylock of Lodi,
Calif., and Gladys Brown of San Leandro, Calif.; one brother, Lonnie Nichols
of Ozark; 16 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Shaffer Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Hubert Staggs and Rev. C. G. Fisher officiating. Burial
will be in Gar Creek Cemetery.

Velma M. Kirby, 95, of Fayetteville died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at
Northwest Nursing Center in Fayetteville.
A native of Coal Hill, she was a daughter of the late William and Flora
Legate Armstrong, widow of Arch Kirby, former resident of Ozark, member
of the First Methodist Church in Ozark and was preceded in death by one
stepdaughter, Mrs. David (Jeanne Kirby) Westmoreland.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. John (Wilma Lee) McCool of Fayetteville;
one sister, Aline Costello of South Gate, Calif.; four grandchildren, Patti
Treat of Fort Smith, David Kirby Westmoreland of Conway, Cheri Lee Kimbrough
of Fayetteville, and Robert E. Lee of Farmington; five great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Vaughn Marsden officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Wade C. Huff Sr., 73, of Ozark, father of Barbara Bartlett of Coal Hill,
died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at his home.
He was a retired, self-employed truck driver, son of the late Bill and
Louise Triplett Huff and a native of Slayden, Tenn.
Survivors include two other daughters, Patsy Phillips of Oakland, Calif.,
and Nicole Disponzio of Fayetteville, N. C.; three sons, Gary and Jim Huff,
both of Ozark, and Wade Huff Jr. of Florida; one sister, Laurie Jennings
of Ozark; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated. Arrangements were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
William Virgil Warren, 71, of Clarksville died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002,
at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Boyd and Sybill Smith Warren, retired self-employee,
and was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Warren; and one brother,
Kenneth Warren.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Toni and Rocky Hunt
of Ozark and Roxanne and Jamey Riddle of Penicle Bluff; one sister, Linda
Ann Mulanax of Clarksville; five brothers, Bobby Warren of Delaware, Charles
Warren of Russellville, Vernon Warren of Atlantic Mine, Mich., Edward Warren
of Newark, and Wayne Warren of Knoxville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
and companion, Margarella Armbruster of Clarksville.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Roller-Cox Chapel
with Rev. Carl Sory officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
