Funeral mass for George Ernest Fisher, 78, who died Thursday, Aug. 31,
2001, at Careage of Whidbey in Coupeville, Wash., will be held at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 5, at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Oak Harbor, Wash.,
with Rev. John J. O'Leary, S. J. Celebrant, officiating. Arrangements will
be by Burley Funeral Home of Oak Harbor, Wash. Graveside services and burial
will follow at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at West Mount Zion Cemetery near
Hartman under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Fisher, CSM, U. S. Army (Ret.) was born in Los Angeles, Calif., to Alfred
E. and Ruth A. Rogers Fisher but was raised in Santa Barbara, Calif., and
Martha Lake, Wash. He enlisted in the military in 1940, serving in World
War II, and was stationed in Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked on
Dec. 7, 1941. He left the service in 1945, and in October 1946, began service
as a Washington State Patrol Officer in the Maple Valley area of Washington.
He returned to military service in 1952, and served in the Korean and Vietnam
Wars. He retired on Jan. 28, 1970, as a Command Sergeant Major (E-9). He
received the Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star for Valor, Army Commendation
Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, six Good Conduct Medals and a Meritorious
Unit Citation.
During his service in the Armed Forces he was stationed at Tagajo, Japan,
Fort Smith, Sendal, Japan, Ft. Carson, Colo., Camp McCoy, Wis., Korea,
Fort Lewis, Wash., Frankfurt, Bad-Kreuznach and Kaiserslaurern, Germany.
He settled in Oak Harbor in 1970, following his retirement from the Army.
He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the Association
of the U. S. Army. He was the past state chairman of the Pearl Harbor Survivors
Association.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Edith Leilani (Lani) Fisher
in 1998.
Survivors include his widow, Geraldine Houston Fisher; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth M. and George Alexander of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Margaret A. and Timothy Ninnemann of Kent, Wash.; one brother, Walter Fisher of Irvine, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Fay White Kilpatrick, 86, of Clarksville died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001,
at her home.
She was a native of Wooster in Conway County, daughter of the late Claude
Elbert and Mary Ellen Ward White, widow of Virgil E. Kilpatrick, former
resident of Gurdon and Pine Bluff, member of First Cumberland Presbyterian
Church, was employed as a seamstress for Baim's Department Store prior
to retiring in 1978, and was preceded in death by two brothers, D. P. White
and Fred White; and one sister, Emily Ferguson.
She is survived by three daughters, Judy Houston of Clarksville, Patricia
Massanelli of Norphlet, and Mary Weiler of Little Rock; two sons, Virgil
(Butch) Kilpatrick of Brinkley and Jim Kilpatrick of Killen, Texas; three
brothers, Sidney White of Pine Bluff, and C. E. White Jr. and Billy White,
both of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Lorraine Clary of Houston, Texas,
Betty Murphy of El Dorado, and Louise Murry of Pine Bluff; 13 grandchildren;
and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Chapel of Ralph
Robinson and Son with Pastor Brad Banks and Pastor Jeff Lark officiating.
Burial will be in Cypress Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors.
Gladys Kirby, 88, of Ozark died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Mercy Hospital/Turner
Memorial in Ozark.
A native of Hunt, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Maudie
Blaylock Price, widow of Henley Kirby, member of Grenade Chapel Methodist
Church, and was preceded in death by two grandsons, David Jacobs and Donald
Wayne Kirby.
Survivors include one daugh-
ter, Maudine Craig of Ozark; one son, Joe Tom Kirby of Ozark; one brother,
Dennis Price of Roswell, Ga.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Ted Darling and Edward Wilkinson officiating. Burial was at Highland
Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were James McKee, Conway Jones, James Kirby, James
Brownell and Mike Jones.
Honorary pallbearers were Bradley Jones and Branden Jones.
Juanita Phillips, 90, of Hartman died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at Mercy Hospital/Turner
Memorial in Ozark.
A native of the Springhill Community, she was a daughter of the late
Clint and Bonnie Mickel Geisler, widow of George Phillips, graduate of
Hartman High School, retired laboratory technician, and a member of the
First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Curt Conde
of Little Rock; two sons, Jim Phillips and Danny Phillips, both of Hartman;
one brother, Mick Geisler of Clarksville; and two grandchildren, Tracy
Phillips of Hot Springs and Clint Morland of Little Rock.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5,
at the Kendall Cemetery with Rev. Lance Jones officiating.

Lester H. Woodard, 86, of Clarksville died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001,
at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late David and Samantha Burns Woodard, retired Eureka
Brick and Tile Company employee, World War II Army veteran, Baptist, and
was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Chavers Woodard.
Survivors include his daughter, Fran Beech of Clarksville; one son,
William Woodard of Clarksville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev.
Sally Ladd and Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Knoxville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Woodard, Paul Woodward, Eddie Spencer, Charles Don Woodard, Phil Woodard, and J. T. Woodard.
